About the Shrub-steppe
The shrub-steppe is the largest of the grassland regions in North America, totaling about 644,716 square kilometers. Shrub-steppe grasslands occupy a large part of the western United States. They extend from western Wyoming into northern Utah and southern Idaho, through eastern Oregon and eastern Washington to the Cascade Mountains, and they reach into the northern portions of California and Nevada.
